Brontë fiction for next year is alive and well. You can check our sidebar for the complete list. Here we present two forthcoming new books and the US edition of another one:

1. Laura Joh Rowland promised a saga when she published The Secret Adventures of Charlotte Brontë in March 2008 and here is the second installment:
Bedlam.
The Further Secret Adventures of Charlotte Brontë
Laura Joh Rowland
ISBN 13: 9781590202715
Overlook Press
May 13, 2010

Following the notable debut of The Secret Adventures of Charlotte Brontë, beloved author Laura Joh Rowland offers her legions of fans the next installment in the Charlotte Brontë mystery series… with more to come. On her last escapade, Charlotte unintentionally witnessed a murder and found herself embroiled in a dangerous chain of events. Now, Charlotte returns in a stun
ning sequel that takes the reader into the most sinister institution in London: Bedlam.

With the death of her siblings and far from home, Charlotte has few people to trust. Struggling with romantic entanglements and her stressful rise to prominence on the literary scene, she is more alone than ever. On a visit to London, Charlotte goes on a tour of London’s most famous hospital for the mad, Bedlam. She is sure she recognizes a struggling Mr. Slade, her long-missing ex-lover, strapped to one of the stretchers. Charlotte starts digging, and soon finds herself trying to reveal a secret that high-powered men would (and do) kill to protect. It is up to Charlotte to find the truth and expose a plot of global proportion. But what if the conspirators get to her first?
2. After Wuthering Heights meets vampires in Wuthering Bites, we have yet another project à la Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Now it's Jane Eyre's turn:
Jane Slayre
By Sherri Browning Erwin and Charlotte Bronte
Pocket, April 2010
Trade Paperback, 416 pages
ISBN-10: 1439191182
ISBN-13: 9781439191187

A clever and funny literary mash-up that rewrites Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre so that Jane is a vampire slayer and Rochester's wife is a werewolf.
You can follow Sherri and Charlotte's Blog if you want to have updated information.

3. And next year Jude Morgan's The Taste of Sorrow will be published in the US. Inexplicably the title has been changed to the less poetic and highly conventional Charlotte and Emily: A Novel of the Brontës. Probably some publicity genius thinks that putting the Brontës in the title makes it more saleable. We don't know, but we think it quite patronising towards the US public, not to mention inconsiderate towards Anne, who most certainly features in the book, as do Branwell and Patrick. The cover features Top Withens and two improbable sisters in a sort of pastoral look - not very coherent with the novel:
Charlotte and Emily: A Novel of the Brontës
Jude Morgan
This title will be released on April 27, 2010.
* Paperback: 400 pages
* Publisher: St. Martin's Griffin (April 27, 2010)
* Language: English
* ISBN-10: 0312642733
* ISBN-13: 978-0312642730
We are not the only ones to complain about the change of title.
