It is finally confirmed. Wuthering Heights will be broadcast on ITV1 during the August Bank Holiday: Sunday, 30 August (21:00-22:30) and Monday, 31 August (21:00-22:30) (that is, half an hour more than the US broadcast)

A complete synopsis of Episode One and Two can be read on the ITV Press Office. Furthermore a very complete Press Pack can also be downloaded from their website. The pack contains interviews with Charlotte Riley, Andrew Lincoln and Sarah Lancashire. These are brief samples:
How does your interpretation of Cathy compare to your predecessors? Charlotte Riley:
I wanted my portrayal of Cathy to be grounded and have an earthy feel about her. From memory no one seems to have played Cathy as a northerner, so I felt I could explore this aspect of her character. You have to believe you will bring something to the role the audience will like and identify with.

What did you think about the moor land locations used for filming? Andrew Lincoln:

It was beautiful. The landscape was one of the greatest things about filming. When you’re in the middle of wild moors and the wind is blowing, you feel this energy. A lot of filming was shot long lens which meant the camera crew could be very discreet, so we felt very isolated, and very much part of the nature and the wilderness. In my opinion you can’t make the drama anywhere else - the landscape, the world they inhabit, the isolation, the ruggedness and the beauty of the landscape is the core of the story.

Did you refer to the book during filming? Sarah Lancashire:

Wuthering Heights is such an epic story, brilliantly engineered by Peter and condensed for two ninety minute films. In order to ensure the full context of the story was correct, I needed to look at the narrative of the book.

Ulf Brantås (director of photography):
''We had the opportunity to shoot in some amazingly beautiful locations in and around the moors, and it is hard to pick one day or a specific location that was my favourite. There were quite a few moments, though, when I was sincerely telling myself to try and do justice to it all.''
Adverts are being already aired on ITV1. Check this imdb thread if you are interested.

  1. It seems the UK cut might longer then. However, ITV does have ad breaks so half an hour of both those segmeants may be breaks. Did the US channel that aired WH also have breaks? That should be an idicator then.

  2. I can't wait! I have seen the US version but I'm looking forward to the UK version more, I hope it has Cathy breaking through the window and reaching for Heathcliff, I saw that clip on Youtube. I have often watched the US WH dvd and thought that certain parts just don't cut right, Maybe the extras will be there in place ;-) Shame that ITV have to go putting loads of adverts between it :-(
