Several newspapers report the death of the dramatist, television writer and essayist
Hugh Leonard (born John Keyes Byrne, 1926-2009). He adapted Wuthering Heights for the BBC (for which he won a Jacob's Award in 1969) in 1967 and he wrote two episodes (the first and last ones) of the Wuthering Heights 1978 adaptation also for the BBC:

Hugh Leonard, the playwright who died on February 12 aged 82, enjoyed enormous success on Broadway with his two plays, Da and A Life, which earned him a considerable fortune; his regular literary jousts with critics and journalists also earned him a reputation as a feared curmudgeon, and his acid newspaper columns, even after filtering for libel, provided high entertainment.
