Sarah Barrett, author of A Room of Their Own: 80 Years of the Brontë Parsonage Museum, will be signing books at St Sampson's Square, York, on Yorkshire day (August 1st). Click on the image to enlarge the flyer and find out more about this event.

There is really no need to find an excuse for a trip to York, but going there in order to get a signed copy of A Room of Their Own will the make the trip even more charming. And, mind you, it's not just us saying that. A few days ago, we got an email from Jon, who won the signed copy we gave away recently. This is what he wrote:
Receiving a signed copy of A Room of Their Own by Sarah Barrett (awarded in a BronteBlog book giveaway) I saved it for this "weekend's read." And now I've spent a most pleasant hour, out on the porch and under the wind chimes, lost in an imaginary visit to another time and place--the Bronte Parsonage Museum.

This presentation in quotes, stories, and photos, reawakened my desire to trek off to Bronte Land and pursue more adventures exploring Haworth. I have visited before, read biographies, and imagined the artists via the pages of their novels; but this little book has me curious to find and learn more. It had enough new and welcome appetizers about the Bronte family and their home that an autumn/winter holiday just has to be worked into the schedule!
Speaking of contests. The winner of the set of three Oxford University Press editions of Brontë novels has been emailed already. The correct answer to the VERY easy question was:

When were these three novels published? (the year/s is enough)

Jane Eyre and Wuthering Height: 1847, and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall: 1848.
