Plenty of Brontë-related things to do today in Greater Brontë country:

First, let's begin the day in a very sportive way:
Wuthering Hike - Haworth Hobble
Saturday 15th March 2008

Entry Form 2008
Entry Lists

33 miles traversing gritstone moors around Haworth, Todmorden and Hebden Bridge 4,400 ft of ascent/descent maximum time allowed 12 hours.
Refreshments available en route with a meal at the finish.
Start at 08-00 am. Entry fee: £20-00 per team or £11-00 solo, to cover administration, catering, transport and minimal(!) prizes.
The 2008 Ultra-running Championships. For more details click here.

After the race, a good shower and a meal and let's take the car to Headingley, Leeds, where they are in the middle of their first Literary Festival. One of the organizers is no other than the former Chairman of the Brontë Society, Richard Wilcocks. Therefore it comes as no surprise that today, March 15, we find in the programme a Brontë event:
Saturday 15 March 4pm-5.30pm at the New Headingley Club, St Michael’s Road
TEA WITH THE BRONTËS
Bob Barnard, award winning local crime writer and past Chair of the Brontë Society, gives a talk on People the Brontës Knew. He is the author of Emily Brontë and, with Louise Barnard, A Brontë Encyclopedia.
Tickets available on the door £3. Price includes includes a cup of tea and a piece of home-made cake *
* tickets for these events are available in advance from Oxfam Books on the Otley Road.
For all advance tickets ring either of the numbers found at the Headingley LitFest Blog.
If you feel like partying after the talk, the Friends of the Brontë Parsonage organize a ceilidh in Haworth. We reproduce here the Brontë Parsonage Blog alert:
After the success of last years St Patrick's Day Ceilidh, the Friends of the Brontë Parsonage Museum will again be celebrating the event. This year the ceilidh will be held in The School Room, Church Street, Haworth where Patrick Brontë himself started a Sunday School and Charlotte Brontë taught.
The ceilidh is on Saturday 15 March from 7.30pm until 11pm - and once again the music will be provided by popular band Northern Comfort. There will be a licensed bar and the ticket price includes a pie and peas supper.
Tickets are available from the Museum Shop or by ringing and cost £8.50 for adults and £3.50 for children. Why not come along and have a great night out and support the work of the Museum at the same time? (Pat Berry, Chairman of The Friends of the Brontë Parsonage Museum)
