Discussion delving into classic ‘Jane Eyre’
The British classic, “Jane Eyre” by Charlotte Bronte, will be discussed at the Ottawa Library Tuesday.
The third installment of the Talk About Literature in Kansas program will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the library, 105 S. Hickory St.
The discussion of the book, which is a first person account of the first 19 years of the title character’s life, will be led by Sandra Calvin Hastings, a literature and writing professor at Johnson County Community College. She has a master of liberal arts degree from Baker University. Hastings is an accomplished writer, director, actress and teacher who has received numerous awards. She joined the Kansas Humanities Council’s Talk About Literature in Kansas program as a leader in 1999.
The program is sponsored locally by Friends of Ottawa Library and is organized statewide by Kansas Humanities Council. The humanities council provides 25 copies of each book studied as well as a discussion leader for each program. (The Ottawa Herald)
