Lovers of culture and fine writing won't want to miss essayist Judith Thurman reading from her latest collection of essays, "Cleopatra's Nose: 39 Varieties of Desire," at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at University Book Store, Hilldale Shopping Center. The essays in this collection appeared in the New Yorker between 1987 and 2006 and feature well-known cultural icons Diane Arbus, Coco Chanel, Jacqueline Kennedy, Richard Avedon, Charlotte Bronte and, of course, Cleopatra.
