Today, December 2, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra had scheduled a very interesting concert: Charlotte Brontë-A Life in Letters. But as their website informs:
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the program that was to have been performed at this concert - Charlotte Brontë-A Life in Letters - has been postponed to a later season.
The program was indeed one of those not to be missed for the Brontë lover:
Charlotte Brontë - A Life in Letters

MSO musicians are joined by actor Helen Morse for an experience evoking an evening in the Brontë’s family’s home on the Yorkshire moors. In a flight of historical imagination, you will be taken into the world of Jane Eyre’s creator, of her sister Emily, who created Wuthering Heights, and the other members of their family. Readings from the Brontë’s work will be interspersed with pieces from the their music room, including transcriptions of orchestral works for chamber ensemble.

Repertoire
BEETHOVEN Symphony No.1 in C, Op.21 (arr. Hummel)
MOZART 'Glass Harmonica' Adagio and Rondo K.617
E.T.A. HOFFMANN Harp Quintet in C minor
BEETHOVEN Symphony No.3 in E flat, Op. 55 'Eroica' (arr. Hummell)
BEETHOVEN Symphony No.6 in F, Op. 68 'Pastoral' (arr. Hummell)

Featuring
Sarah Curro violin
Monica Curro violin
Stuart Johnson viola
Sarah Morse cello
Andrew Macleod flute
Michael Pisani oboe
Julie Raines harp
Caroline Almonte keyboard
Helen Morse narrator
A real pity... we certainly hope that the program will reappear in the next season.
