JANE EYRE

Charlotte Bronte's well-loved classic nineteenth-century story of penniless orphan Jane Eyre is brought to the stage by Square One, faithfully conveying the exceptional emotional power of the original novel. This stage version of Jane Eyre is a must for the romantics among us, and lovers of good classic novels will not be disappointed. Considered by many to be the greatest love story ever written in the English language.
And in Clearwater, Florida:
Jane Eyre: The Musical (Gordon & Caird)

Clearwater Christian College

November 1-3 07:00 PM
More information can be found in The Angle, the student newspaper:
As the light dims and the curtain opens, Jane takes her place and begins to tell her story, but not without long, tiring hours of practice, rehearsals and late nights.
This year's musical, "Jane Eyre: A Musical Drama," will feature CCC junior Alisha Boley in the lead role of Jane Eyre, a girl who has been orphaned and sent to live with a cruel family.
"Playing Jane is a big responsibility. I feel the weight of the role and everybody's expectations for the role. I don't see myself as the star, just someone with a big role that I want to perform well. I am very excited for the opportunity to grow in my acting skills, and honored to have gotten the part."
Directing "Jane Eyre" is Craig Ralston, Chair of the Music Department and Division of Fine Arts. "Directing a musical is a challenging but rewarding adventure. It is exciting to work with a large group of students that have varied talents. A show of this size requires a great amount of commitment from all involved, with many hours of rehearsals for everyone. We have a great cast for "Jane Eyre," committed to making this production the best we have had so far at CCC."
Dave Fitzgerald, faculty member in the Department of Communication Arts, is technical director. He is also in charge of set design and construction for the musical. Training a group of students, Fitzgerald has been designing, constructing and decorating the stage for the performances. Fitzgerald said that he is certain audiences will enjoy this musical.
Said Boley, "I feel this show can connect with everybody in some way. The theme is love and forgiveness, which we all desire. Characters with different ages help make the show appealing to all."
Ralston added, "We trust everyone will enjoy the musical as much as we are!" (Jennifer Duncan)
