The People's Theatre Arts Group premieres today, October 9, an amateur production of Polly Teale's Brontë:

Brontë

by Polly Teale

In the quiet isolation of the Yorkshire moors live Emily, Anne and Charlotte Brontë. When their deranged brother Branwell returns home in disgrace the household is thrown into chaos, but still the sisters write....

The drab domesticity of the real world collides with the vivid imaginations of the trio as their internal worlds come to life. Heathcliff, Cathy and Bertha are amongst the fictional characters who haunt their creators.

Polly Teale's drama is as sprawling as it is ambitious, encompassing not only the lives of the Brontës but also their signature novels and poems which are widely regarded as some of the most passionate and powerful fiction of all time.
