Branwell Brontë died at the Haworth Parsonage on a day like today 159 years ago. From what we know, his death was precisely the opposite of his life: he passed away quietly, saying amen after his father's prayers, to his family's consolation.

The sisters who for many years expected to see their brother's name written in gold were finally the ones who brought him fame, who made the world aware of his unfulfilled potential and his diverse writings.
