News concerning the castings of the upcoming Brontë biopic. We read in the Yew Tree Forum how the producers are looking for the actors playing the Brontës as children:
BRONTË

Directed by Charles Sturridge

‘Bronte’ tells the extraordinary story of Charlotte, Anne & Emily, three sisters who became the greatest writing dynasty of all time, responsible for some of the most enduring classics of English Literature including Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall.
As children, the sisters were led by their brilliant and charismatic brother, Branwell, but his collapse into a world of alcohol and opium forced them to go on alone, without encouragement from their eccentric and domineering father Patrick Bronte.
Growing up in isolation on the Yorkshire moors, the Bronte’s created epic fantasy worlds to entertain themselves and these became the seeds of the controversial novels that made them famous.
As the story starts with them as children at their home in Haworth we are keen to cast local young actors for these roles.

The ages we are looking for are:
Anne (5-6)
Emily (7-8 )
Branwell (9-11)
Charlotte (10-12)
On the Brontë imdb page's board we can read how the father of a possible Branwell talks about the casting session:
My son is auditioning today in Leeds for the part of Branwell (as a child) (...)
It went very well, he got down to the last four at the audition and we will get to know in about 2 and a half weeks if he has progressed further although I believe they are also looking at some children in London. Charles Sturridge was there and asked a number of questions. Not sure on what they are particularly looking for although to be absolutely honest my son does have a slight passing resemblance to Rhys Meyers so that may have been a deciding factor (harry-232 Wed Jul 18 2007 12:02:42)

  2. There's still hope while they don't announce any other actor as playing Branwell :)
