A course on the Brontës in Cambridge is something to be highlighted. The Institute of Continuing Education of the University of Cambridge, based at Madingley Hall, offers the following course, starting today June 15:
RE-READING THE BRONTËS: TRANSGRESSIVE VOICES

Dr Simon Avery

This course examines the Brontes' literary innovations through analysis of Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights and the sisters' poetry. The texts will be read in relation to various mid-Victorian socio-political concerns, and their influence on later writers considered through discussion of Jean Rhys' re-writing of Jane Eyre: Wide Sargasso Sea.
