Several newspapers and news information services remind us that tonight takes place the BAFTA TV Awards Ceremony where Ruth Wilson is nominated for Best Actress for her role as Jane Eyre in the recent BBC production.
The ceremony will be broadcast on BBC One at 2000 BST on Sunday. (BBC News)
EDIT:
And, as can be read on BBC News, the Best Actress winner was Victoria Wood for Housewife, 49 (that also won the Best Single Drama award) :-(

Kathryn Flett from The Guardian asks:
Is Ruth Wilson's Jane Eyre an obvious winner? (...) Glancing at the shortlists for tonight's Baftas, I've found it tough to pick obvious winners in the major categories: Jim Broadbent's Longford or Michael Sheen's Kenneth Williams for best actor? Ruth Wilson's Jane Eyre or Victoria Wood's Housewife, 49 for actress? (The Guardian- Arts Blog)
We don't have any doubts :P. And we think that Jim Broadbent agrees with us:
Favourite TV 'I've got Sky and I love the fact that you can watch a Seinfeld at any time. At the moment I'm enjoying Paul Whitehouse and Harry Enfield's Ruddy Hell! It's Harry and Paul - there's a wonderful surreal quality to it. I also get hooked on series like Jane Eyre and Persuasion.' (The Observer Magazine)
You can read about Ruth Wilson's favourite TV shows, here.

  1. My commiserations to Ruth Wilson, she misses out on the BAFTA!

  2. And ours too... a pity. Nevertheless, as Lorraine Ashbourne (Mrs Fairfax in Jane Eyre) happens to be in the 'Housewife, 49' cast too, it can be said that a piece of the award is Jane Eyre-related :P.

  3. I just watched Jane Eyre on DVD last night and was blown away. Ruth was Jane Eyre. Too bad she didn't win.

  4. I know what you mean. Victoria Wood may probably deserves her award but she has to be really, really good to be better than Ruth, don't you think?
