New books and reviews in France.

Éditions Plon publishes Dictionnaire de la Passion Amoureuse by Nicole Avril. In a dictionary of love and passion, Wuthering Heights cannot be absent. Reviews of the book can be found in Le Monde and Le Nouvel Observateur. The first review recovers George Bataille's known statement about Emily Brontë's novel: "peut-être la plus belle, la plus violente des histoires d'amour" (maybe the most beautiful, the most violent of love stories).

On Critiques BD! it can be found a new review of the comic book Hurlevent (Jérôme Deleers and Yves Leclercq). You can compare it with our own review, published some months ago.

Wuthering Heights DVD in The Netherlands

DVD.nl presents a Dutch edition of the 1978 BBC adaptation of Wuthering Heights released by Just Entertainment. This company also has in its catalogue, the 1983 BBC Jane Eyre series.

Jasper Fforde's books in Italy

Marcos y Marcos publishes the Italian translation of the second book in the Thursday Next series by Jasper Fforde, Lost in a Good Book. In Italian Persi in un buon libro. You can read a review of the Italian edition here.

Paula Rego Exhibition in Lisboa, Portugal

The Jane Eyre litographs can be seen these days in Lisboa. In the Galeria de S. Bento (Rua do Machadinho 1, Lisboa) from January 22 until March 2. More details on this post.
Paula Rego also appears in the Portuguese press because another exhibition (Tríptico Vanitas) is currently going on in the Centro de Arte Moderna José de Azeredo Perdigão. As it can be read in this interview, there's also a Jane Eyre connection (through Bertha's monkey) in the new Tríptico.

Swedish press articles

A couple of articles in the Swedish press with Brontë connections. This one talks about the Brontë biopic by Angela Workman. And this other one talks about the English literary classics with special mentions to Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights. About Emily Brontë's novel there are highlighted its Romantic origins and its links with Tristan und Isolde or Romeo and Juliet.
