Keighley News reports today how a

(...) scenic corner of Brontë country will appear on the nation's television screens early in the New Year.

A BBC production team for Countryfile, the rural and environmental affairs programme, spent two days filming in a valley near Ponden Reservoir last week. (...)

The team filmed at the Brontë waterfalls, Brontë bridge, op Withens and Ponden Kirk.

They also took some interior shots of the Brontë Parsonage Museum and Ponden Hall.

Built in 1634, the hall is believed to be the house which Emily Brontë re-named Thrushcross Grange, home of the Linton family in her novel, "Wuthering Heights".

Ponden Kirk, which is a large outcrop of Yorkshire gritstone, was named Penistone Crag by Emily.

Juliet Morris, who will present this episode of Countryfile, was filmed lambering through a hole at the base of the rock. In Wuthering Heights, Emily Brontë called this hole the Fairy Cave.
Local legend suggests single people passing through the hole will marry within a year.

It looks like the BBC is favouring the Brontës lately.

In Fredericksburg, Texas, this weekend the Texas Hill Country Youth Choir will be singing a selection of songs, including Wintersong, based on a poem by Emily Brontë set to music by Audrey Snyder, something we recently posted about.
“Wintersong” with music by Audrey Snyder and words by Emily Bronte, features a trio of fifth grade singers made up of Morgan Skeels, Mattie Lastovica and Nikki Hennigan.
And now for the weird mention of the day.
Finally, Wall Street is also showing no respect for the Heathcliff Earnshaw of the videogame world. (Joseph Sargent on Schaeffers Research talking about Take-Two Interactive Software (TTWO))
If anyone knows what they are talking about, we'll be glad to hear it.
