We must report today the sad news of a Brontëite who has passed away. Bebe Moore Campbell always traced back her influences to the Brontës.

Here's what we read in an article republished to commemorate her death but originally dating from August 1993.
Campbell counts Dickens, the Brontes and Jane Austen as among her early favorites in fiction. She also got some important inspiration from the modern writers Toni Morrison and James Baldwin. (Steve Paul in The Kansas City Star)
And in an obituary:
Born in Philadelphia in 1950, Elizabeth Bebe Moore was a gifted child who connected with words early on. Growing up, she favored classics by the Bronte sisters, Mark Twain and Charles Dickens. (Patrik Bass on Essence.com)
Bebe Moore Campbell wrote a book called Sometimes my Momma Gets Angry. Rochester gets angry too according to this article:

One of my favorite TV characters is that of Spike, in Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Fiction aside, he is the typical bad boy who ends up fighting against all odds to become a good boy, and all for love. I love watching the inner conflicts that arise from his 'true nature' being overpowered by his passion and love for Buffy. Like him, there are many characters in books, movies and TV that exemplify this. Even Charlotte Bronte, in the classic Jane Eyre, paired the good Jane with the eternal bad-tempered bachelor. (Sandra Silva in Naples Sun Times)
Erm... we really don't think bachelor of all words is the one that applies to Rochester best.
