shirley_keeldar (no less!) has kindly brought to our attention the brand-new official website for Jane Eyre. We were expecting it any day and in fact we checked every couple of days or so to see if it was up. And now here it is.

A very informative website with lots of things to play with. Characters and actors' biographies, desktop wallpapers, episode guide, photo gallery (31 pictures!), behind the scenes, production diary, the history of Jane Eyre TV adaptations... You name it, it's there. We have just spent a good while clicking on link after link on it!

We are posting here a couple of pictures of Georgie Henley as young Jane since many people were wondering about the way she looked in the production (apart from the exotic opening scenes, that is). We think that she has been made a little too pretty with those perfect ringlets. She looks really cute, but we mean regarding the novel.

So, have fun browsing through the website!

EDIT: Brontëite Vaire has written to let us know a very funny comment that Diederick Santer, the producer, writes in the production diary. It belongs to the third week (and it seems to be off-line now).

One quiet afternoon while all is well on set, I retire to the office and have a little surf online. We haven't yet published a press release, but there's plenty of talk of our Jane Eyre on the web. Bits of information have been found from agents' websites, newspaper gossip columns, and bits of insider info. There's lots of excitement and speculation about our adaptation and I'm struck by how much this novel means to some people. I wish we had published our press release, because it would stop some of the confusion in some of the messages. But I don't yet have a photo I'm happy with, so no press release yet.
(...)

I'm really struck by the literal and pedantic obsession many of the bloggers have with the physical traits of Rochester and Jane as described in the book.

I guess he won't like that comment above about Georgie's look as young Jane :P

Ah... it seems just like yesterday that we published our first bit of news about the production!
