Not so mischievous as Lord Voldemort, Sauron, Dracula or Professor Moriarty but certainly more than Cruella de Vil or The Grinch, that's our Heathcliff acording to the BigBadRead online poll:

Lord Voldemort from the Harry Potter series has been voted the number one villain in the BigBadRead, an online poll to find the UK’s favourite literary villain from a children’s book.

The BigBadRead was launched in May 2006. Inspired by Mark Walden’s debut novel, H.I.V.E. (Higher Institute of Villainous Education) and supported by the National Literacy Trust’s Read On campaign, the poll received over 16,500 votes. The top ten villains are listed below and feature a mixture of contemporary, classic and comic book villains. (...)

16. Heathcliff Wuthering Heights Emily Bronte.

We don't know what we prefer best, Heathcliff the romantic-cliche-wandering-in-the-moors or Heathcliff the archvillain (first we conquer Wuthering Heights, next...the world !)
