The Sannio Film Festival (SFF) is the only European festival entirely dedicated to costume films. It takes place in Sant'Agata de' Goti (Italy), a beautiful medieval city in the Campania region. Its tenth edition began Friday, June 30 and it will close next Sunday, July 9.

This edition the Festival dedicates a retrospective and a exhibition to Jenny Beavan that can be of interest to our readers:

The 2006 edition of Sannio FilmFest will pay homage to Jenny Beavan with a special night in her honour on July 6th and an exhibition of her costumes that will open on July 1th.
Jenny Beavan is one of the greatest costume designers of the world known thanks to her detailed and historically accurate work. She has created the costumes for films like A room with a view, The remains of the day, Jane Eyre, Gosford Park, Alexander and for theatres like Welsh National Opera, Ballet Rambert, Nederlans Dans Theatre and Royal Shakespeare Company.
Jenny Beavan started her fantastic career with James Ivory and Ismail Merchant with whom she still works, and has collaborated for a long time with John Bright.
She received many Academy award nominations and won an Oscar for the film A room with a view. She also won an Emmy for the tv series Emma of Jane Austen.
Jenny Beavan will be at our festival from July 6th (when we will give to her a special award for her admirable career) to July 9th when there will be a conference of costume designers and production designers.

The exhibition, at the Church of San Francesco, shows 26 costumes from Jenny Beavan's filmography (including some from Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre) and several sketches. The film itself is projected on Thursday 6 (18:00 Sala Mustilli).

EDIT (9 July)
The Brontë Parsonage Blog posts about this exhibition and has some pictures with Jenny Beavan and Maddalena De Leo (from the Italian Brontë Society).
