The Washington Post publishes a correction to one of their crosswords:

In the June 8 crossword puzzle, "We're Off to See the Wizard," the clue for 71 Across was incorrect. It should have read "Bronte heroine," not "Austen heroine."

You would think it's pretty easy to get these things right, but it seems not. If anyone happened to do this crossword we would love to hear who that heroine was. We are guessing Jane Eyre?

  1. I did that particular crossword and the answer was indeed "Eyre". I also sent the post an email to point out that error that same night (though I'm sure I wasn't the only one). If you are curious, they archive all of their crosswords. All you have to do is go to the daily crossword page and click on the left "archive" arrow (located to the left of the current crossword body).
