Today, June 4, as we have been announcing in several occasions, it's the US premiere of Michael Berkeley's Jane Eyre opera. The complete cast, crew and schedule are the following:

Jane Eyre..................................Kelly Kaduce
Adèle....................................Elizabeth Reiter
Mrs. Fairfax........................Robynne Redmon
Mrs. Rochester....................Elizabeth Batton
Rochester.............................Scott Hendricks

Conductor............................Andreas Mitisek
Stage Director ..........................Colin Graham
Set Designer................................Erhard Rom
Costume Designer.................Jane Greenwood
Lighting Designer.................Mark McCullough

This production is made possible by a leadership gift from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, with major support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
Composer Michael Berkeley has transformed one of the best-loved Victorian classics into a spellbinding chamber opera. “Jane Eyre burns with emotional intensity” said London’s Sunday Times after the opening, and the Guardian called it “an intense psychodrama...an engrossing reworking of this most familiar of novels.”

Jane comes to Thornfield Hall as a governess and falls in love with her employer, Mr. Rochester, but the revelation of the existence of his mad wife ends the romance. Long months after she has left Thornfield, Jane dreams of all the mysterious and ghostly events that followed her arrival at the Hall. Realizing that the agonized voices calling her from the past are in fact voices of the present, she returns to Thornfield to find that the madwoman burned down the Hall and Rochester was blinded trying in vain to save her from the flames. With Kelly Kaduce – 2004's unforgettable Sister Angelica – in the title role, Jane Eyre will be a powerful evening in the theater.
