According to Entertainment Wise Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp are still scheduled to shoot that much dreaded version of Wuthering Heights but that's the first we hear of it again in a very long time, and it's not even listed on Ms Jolie's IMDb page. We will have to start again from scratch: the image of Angelina Jolie as Cathy is highly disturbing and it takes considerable time to banish it.

There's a brief obituary on Peter Bryant where we learn something really interesting about the now so popular mini-series:

Bryant moved from in front of the camera to behind it after starring in several successful productions including the famed British TV miniseries “Wuthering Heights” in 1953. It was this production that created the miniseries a full decade before the format was used by American television.

Hmmm... so Wuthering Heights gave birth to a whole new concept! Sadly we don't know much about this production where he played Edgar Linton.

And finally something hilarious about the behind-the-scenes of Michael Berkeley's Jane Eyre opera:

The following exchange was overheard during an orchestra rehearsal held before the full dress rehearsal for Jane Eyre. Composer Michael Berkeley was in attendance. Jane Eyre receives its United States premiere at Opera Theatre of St. Louis Sunday, June 4.

Conductor: If it is possible, I would like you to add a note here.

(Pause)

A musician: Any note?

We are still laughing! :D

  1. I hope and pray that the Depp and Jolie rumour does not bear fruition.

I'd rather the BBC commission a mini series like the brilliant Bleak House.

  2. We all hope and pray for that! Now the question is whether our hopes and prayers will be answered :P
