We report the performance of Polly Teale's After Mrs. Rochester in Johannesburg, South Africa. The National School for the Arts in its annual Festival of Fame (3 - 9 May) has scheduled a performance:

NSA Theatre (4 May)

After Mrs Rochester: Written by Polly Teale, AFTER MRS ROCHESTER is a remarkable dramatization based on the life story of Creole born writer Jean Rhys. Jean Rhys was fascinated with Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre; more particularly with the character of Bertha Mason, the first Mrs Rochester and the “madwoman in the attic.”. Polly Teale’s placing of Bertha on stage throughout as Jean’s alter ego gives full vent to this obsession which translates itself into her own harrowing schizophrenia.

After Mrs Rochester is directed by: Chan Marti.
