A couple of brief mentions for today:

A play called Intimate Apparel is on stage in San Diego. Ethel Boyce - the main character is said to have more than a few points in common with Jane Eyre. and reading the story there also seem to be some parallelisms between the novel and the play.

An article on the Evangelical Times (apparently from December 2005) looks into freedom and - of course - they bring up that overly famous quote from Jane Eyre. Guessed it already?

Charlotte Bronte wrote, ‘I am a free human being with an independent will’ (Jane Eyre). Perhaps so, but while we are free to determine our own actions, we can only act in accordance with our sinful human nature — our choices will always exclude God.

Did this sound like a rushed post? Well, perhaps it's because The Oxford Companion to the Brontës has finally found its way to BrontëBlog and we're so looking forward to lay our hands on it for the umpteenth time since we opened the package! :D
