While killing time until the people at Amazon add the 'buy' button to The Oxford Companion to the Brontës, we have dug up what you could term old news. But it has an interesting bit:

The film world is buzzing with claims -- despite denials -- that Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie were to take the lead roles as Heathcliff and Cathy in the passionate love story.

Robin Baum, Johnny's agent in Los Angeles, this week insisted there was no truth in the rumours.

Kevin Hensby, chairman of Haworth Traders Association, said he had not heard about the possibility of the film stars arriving.

We hadn't heard about the denials before. Hmmm... Will it all come to nothing in the end? (I can sense a lot of "hopefully!" in the air :P)
