From 21 December to 15 January a theatrical production of Jane Eyre has been on stage in Shanghai at the Shanghai Dramatic Arts Center. It seems that the production has been cancelled (well, our Chinese is not very good and we don't know why and since when), but maybe it's just a temporal cancelation because it seems that the originally 15 January deadline has been extended from 17 to 23 January.

Orphaned Jane Eyre endures an unhappy childhood, hated by her aunt and cousins and then sent to comforless Lowood School. But there life improves and Jane stays on as a teacher, though she still longs for love and friendship. At Mr.Rochester's hourse, as a governess, she hopes she might have finally found them until she learns the terrible secret of the attic...

Directed by Mitsumasa Shinozaki from Japan, headed by famous China actress Xi Meijuan and actor Jiao Huang, with the original work of Charlotte Brinte (sic), it is really an international cooperation and real chance to practise mandarin.

Dialogues in Chinese with subtitles in English.
