Next Saturday, January 21, a dramatized reading of Jane Eyre will be given in Ogden (Utah) by no less than Claire Bloom.

Claire Bloom, famed actress of stage and screen, will be in Ogden (Utah) next week as an artist-in-residence at Weber State University, where she will present a dramatized reading of "Jane Eyre" on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the Browning Center's Allred Theatre. The reading is open to the public (admission is $5).

Claire Bloom performed with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir last month. During the week, Tuesday through Saturday, Bloom — whose most recent visit to Utah was to perform with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir during its annual Christmas concert — will conduct several workshops with WSU theater students.

Claire Bloom is very familiar with Charlotte Brontë's novel not only because she has performed previously these public readings of Jane Eyre (as for instance in New York some years ago), but because she was also one of the voices in a much praised audiobook edition of the novel. Her Brontë relations continue because she was Cathy in a very forgotten TV-adaptation of Wuthering Heights (but with a Nigel Kneale script !).
