The University of Leeds offers the possibility of "adopting" old/important editions of well-known works by reputed authors.

When you adopt a book we will place a bookplate in the book to permanently record your connection with it - and your support for the Library’s conservation funds. The adoption can, if you wish, be made in someone else's name as a gift.

There are several options:

The basic one consists in choosing a book from their Special Collections Catalogue (in which there are several works by/on the Brontës) and requires a minimum payment of £25.

Next there's the Premium Books (no Brontë-related books among these), which entail a minimum payment of £250.

And finally there's the Major Books category where adoptions are exclusive and range from £500-£5,000. These include a first edition of Jane Eyre and a copy of the Poems of which you will be interested to know that "it is believed that there are fewer than ten copies in existence with the Aylott and Jones title-page, as in the Library's copy".

So you might be just a form away from "owning" a unique Brontë book!
