Theatre Raleigh's recent chamber production of the 2000 Broadway musical Jane Eyre will stream August 31 beginning at 7:30 PM ET. The production, which played the North Carolina theatre May 29-June 9, stars Julie Benko in the title role and Matt Bogart as Rochester. Broadway alum Megan McGinnis directed the production.
The live capture of the show will also be screened at Theatre Raleigh the same evening as the live stream. Those who purchase streaming access to the film will be able to start it any time after 7:30 PM ET, but provided links will become unusable at midnight. The show will only be available to stream that evening, though a representative from the theatre tells Playbill that depending on the success of this initial Jane Eyre stream, future access to the live stage capture is possible. Houston Press announces its very own 2024 Houston Theater Awards. The Jane Eyre production at Alley Theatre has some nominations:
Best Actress: Melissa Molano
Best Sound: Melanie Chen Cole
Best Costumes: Valérie Thérèse Bart (Winner)
Though the word “plain” appears dozens of times in Jane Eyre, Bart’s costumes for our heroine are closer to subtle opulence than plain. As Eyre, Melissa Molano’s day-to-day dress was light blue, a color that popped on stage, and it also stayed true to the high neckline, two-piece design, and silhouette you’d expect of the period. This is because Bart didn’t go down the anachronistic route either. Just like Williamson’s play does with the book, Bart stayed faithful to the time, making era-impeccable choices that featured so many markers of Victorian fashion – bodices that draw down in a V-shape, dome-shaped skirts, necklines both high and shoulder-bearing, sleeves ranging from tightly fitted to pagoda, pelerines, bonnets, frock coats and more.  Scottish Field interviews the writer Ali Millar:
Ellie Forbes: The first book I remember reading:
A.M.: I learnt to read very young, so I don’t remember reading specific books until I was about five. But I do remember my mother reading Jane Eyre to me and the vividness of the red room, the fear Jane felt, all of it was so visceral. I’ve wanted to recapture that sensation ever since. I think it might be why I write.

A Dark Academia Jane Eyre Retelling: 'Salt & Broom' by Sharon Lynn Fisher
The protagonist’s name is literally Jane Aire, so you see where this is going. It’s October, she attends Thornfield Hall (an all-girls school), and she’s hired by the unsavory headmaster — though the more time she spends with him, the more she finds him intriguing. Mysterious forces begin plaguing the school, and the two will have to work together to keep them at bay. (Katie McPherson)
Culturizarte (Spain) reviews Books Lovers by Emily Henry:
Emily Henry publica esta novela para jóvenes y no tan jóvenes lectores que sueñan con encontrar el amor. Es simple, graciosa y se adentra en temas profundos. Si buscas algo denso, esto no es -lamentablemente- Cumbres Borrascosas. Hay veces que queremos leer para sentir que estamos viviendo una película en nuestra cabeza y esta es esa obra. Y hablando de la pantalla grande, hay buenas noticias porque ya está confirmada una próxima adaptación de Books Lovers. (Ana Moraga) (Translation
