Paint company Dulux Heritage has introduced a new limited edition version of Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights. As part of their Heritage Editions collection, this release reimagines the book covers of 12 renowned literary works, incorporating colors inspired by Dulux’s Heritage line of paints. Each color was thoughtfully selected to resonate with the themes and tones of the respective novels.
For Wuthering Heights, Dulux opted for the deep purple shade known as “Dusted Heather”. Described as a “wildly romantic frost-kissed violet”, this color aims to capture the contrasting emotions present in Brontë’s novel, from "intense passion" to "quiet sentimentality".
According to Marianne Shillingford, the Creative Director at Dulux Heritage, the choice of Dusted Heather strikes a delicate balance, reflecting the novel’s beauty and mystique while evoking a sense of “shadowy serenity”. Shillingford personally hand-painted the new cover artwork featuring this captivating hue.
The Heritage Editions collection extends beyond Wuthering Heights. Other classic titles, including “Frankenstein”, “1984”, “The Hound of the Baskervilles”, “12 Years a Slave”, and “Little Women”, have also received the Dulux treatment. The color pairings were meticulously researched to align with each book’s storyline and predominant emotional themes.
Dulux Heritage’s approach emphasizes the use of color to express the profound feelings evoked by literature. Readers interested in these limited Heritage Editions can participate in a giveaway on Dulux Heritage’s Instagram for a chance to win copies of these unique covers.
