Emily Brontë and Vampires
Thursday 08 February 2024
A Thursday Talk at the Brontë Parsonage Museum
This talk will consider Emily Brontë’s literary relationship with the figure of the vampire, tracing the influence of German literature upon her understanding and usage of the vampire figure in Wuthering Heights, and the impact of such on contemporary vampire fiction.
Stephenie Meyer’s Eclipse, the third instalment in her vampire series Twilight draws inspiration from Brontë’s Wuthering Heights, and this talk will consider the extent to which Emily Brontë plays a crucial role in the legacy of vampire fiction from the nineteenth century to the present day.
This event will take place at the Brontë Parsonage Museum in Haworth. Can't make it in person? No problem! We will be running an online version of this Thursday Talk the same day. Book for the online version of this event here.
