Rosalind Freeborn creates paper collages of scenes from parts of Britain familiar to her - Yorkshire, Lancashire, the Lake District , London and many more.
Using cut and torn pieces of wrapping paper, old magazines, packaging and other materials that would otherwise be thrown away, she turns them into striking lampshades. (...)
Rosalind - our Telegraph & Argus Trader of the Week - has also created a stunning Brontës shade, featuring Charlotte, Emily and Anne with a backdrop of Haworth Parsonage and the wild moors that inspired the literary sisters. (Helen Mead)
Those three sisters produced some of the world's most popular novels. My personal favourite is Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë (and I did love Shirley and The Professor too) but many people choose Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights as the book they return to over again. But Anne Brontë was brilliant too. I recently re-read Agnes Grey and was struck by they way she described children - particularly horrible ones - clearly based on her own experience of working as a Governess for a dysfunctional family. Well, I have decided to show my appreciation of these clever siblings, along with my fondness for Haworth and the rugged beauty of West Yorkshire by creating this Papershade. I hope it appeals to everyone who shares my love for these writers and the countryside which formed them.
Paper lampshade flat packed for self assembly, including 2 unique Papershades wheels and 5 printed panels.
