The following investigation objective is to be analyze self-referentiality for the exploration of self-awareness in Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë. This study was made from the problem of lack of content evidenced in the narratology analysis of literary works, which be seen as impoverished because are not considered semiotic factors nor the relation of the author with the book. It is important to carry out this work because allows redefining fragments of a book, as well as gives them more valuable to the formal aspects of the literary fact and credit authors, like Charlotte Brontë, her contributions to the literary theory, like the run of conscience and the autobiographic novel. The methodology applied in this work is structured from the qualitative approach, descriptive level, modality bibliographic-documental, narrative design, and data collection technique for content analysis. The results obtained are translated into self-referential as a mechanism of self-awareness of the author, works to enable it to manage emotions and redefine their lives, some narrative techniques as an inner monologue or direct appeals to the reader allow to improve the understanding of the deep sense of the book, just as the reader can interfere in the narrative. Finally, is shown because of this research, an academic essay that has as a purpose to show that the book by Charlotte Brontë has been undervalued in terms of contributions inside the literary world and is accurate to revalue her novels
