An alert for today, December 8, in the Brontë Parsonage Museum:
Thu 8 Dec 2:00pm - 3:00pm
Brontë Parsonage Museum

Christmas is probably one of the biggest events in our year, yet we actually know very little about some of the customs and traditions that surround it.
Have you ever wondered why we drag a tree into our houses, hide chocolates behind small numbered doors and push brussels sprouts around our plates? Well, much of what we do is down to the Victorians - no people in history have influenced the way we celebrate Christmas quite as much.
In this fascinating talk from Bronte Parsonage staff member Ruth Rossington, not only will we discover how the Victorians changed the face of Christmas forever, we’ll also explore the few clues the Brontës left us about Christmas at the Parsonage.
