Did you know that the famous, brilliant Brontë sisters — yes, the 'Wuthering Heights', 'Jane Austen' (sic), and 'Agnes Grey' Brontë sisters — made a quilt?! They did! Just one! Is it perfect? No! But their novels are, so who cares! Let's look at the quilt and talk about it, because ...
I'll be co-teaching a workshop with England's own Jenni Smith on October 16th & 17th (2021) centered on the Brontë quilt. I'll give you history and context; Jenni will teach you how to make your own version of the quilt. Visit
www.quiltfolk.com to sign up. The lecture will include a visit to Haworth, in Yorkshire, to view the ACTUAL quilt and we'll be live to have tea and you'll love Jenni's teaching style, etc., etc. It's going to be great and on this stream, I talk a bit more about it and we watch a video.
After that, we take a brief look at kit quilts from the 1940s, and THEN Mary loses her mind over the 'Branches and Vines' quilt from 1875 and you will too. We talk about the environment's impact on quilt trends and of course we all eat chips.
