Number of Sessions: 1
Date & Time of Session: Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 11 AM EDT
Duration: 90 minutes
No topic may be as important in Psychology as resilience -- the ability to face adversity and remain mentally strong. But how exactly do we build that resilience?
Few protagonists illustrate resilience better than Jane Eyre, an orphaned girl who overcame adversity to become an independent woman. In this class, expert Astoria Wright will help students explore Jane Eyre as a means to better understand how to build resilience in their own lives.
At the end of the class, students will be able to define resilience; understand main themes in the novel, Jane Eyre, as they exemplify resilience in the protagonist's life; identify the strategies that help build resilience; and apply these strategies to their own lives.
Astoria Wright is a freelance writer and published author of over 15 cozy mystery novels including the collections: The Faerie Apothecary, A Witch’s Thrift Shop, and A Sassy Sleuth.
In addition, she holds a Masters in Psychology and an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction with over 10 years of teaching experience. Wright has read Jane Eyre, one of her inspirations, several times cover to cover and is happy to share the valuable life lessons learned in this riveting classic.
