An alert for tomorrow, May 5, at the Brontë Parsonage Museum:
Fiona Mozley: Elmet
An afternoon with writer
May 5, 2:30PM

Fiona Mozley visits Haworth to discuss Elmet, her debut novel which was shortlisted for the 2017 Man Booker Prize. It’s been described as an ‘elemental, contemporary rural noir’ rooted strongly within Yorkshire, and has been heavily lauded for its ‘rich and unfussy lyricism’. Her evocation of landscape, and a wilful protagonist named Cathy, have drawn multiple comparisons with Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights.Fiona Mozley was born in Hackney but grew up in York and studied at Cambridge before moving to Buenos Aires for a year – without speaking any Spanish. After briefly working at a literary agency in London, she moved back to York to complete a PhD in Medieval Studies. She also has a weekend job at The Little Apple Bookshop in York.
