  1. The samples from the CD sound like they were originally taken from a vinyl lp. Am I wrong?

  2. We don't really know for sure. The release description says:
"This is the original album presentation, with the addition of a previously unreleased track, digitally remastered from the original 1/4" stereo tapes from the MGM vaults"

  3. True -- he mentions how that one track was digitally remastered and nothing said about the rest of the tracks. I would have really been surprised if the cd came from the original tapes. Mike Curb (of the Mike Curb Congregation) was running MGM records at the time. Since he currently lives in Nashville Tennessee, I might try to see if he still has the tapes.

  4. Well, I have both the original American International LP and the new La La Land CD. The sound is very good and I prefer the new CD over my mint-condition LP which I played often. The tracks were undoubtedly stored at M-G-M and several smaller specialty labels have licensed music from them so I don't see why there would be a problem locating the original master tapes.
