Branwell Brontë was born in Thornton on a day like today in 1817. Although he would grow up to be known as the black sheep of the Brontë family, it should also be remembered that he actually was the driving force behind the juvenilia, pushing the Brontë girls into the world of writing they would never leave.For that, and for many more other 'small' achievements he certainly deserves to be remembered.
