David Spector, an ornithologist with a specialty in birds in literature, will discuss the birds in Charlotte Brontë's Jane Eyre, and Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights. How does information about a bird flow from scientific discovery, via environmental education, to use in a literary masterpiece? How can attention to the birds in novels reveal conversations between sisters, and how might such conversations continue long after authors' deaths?
