We found at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival a curious proposal starting today:
The Mercators Theatre Company present

Our eighth annual tribute to famous writers

Averse to Personal Publicity
A Tribute to the Brontës

Devised by John Kelly

Diverse Attractions, Riddles Court, Monday 17th - Saturday 22nd August at 5.30pm

The Mercators review the lives and works of Charlotte, Emily and Anne Brontë. How did such retiring ladies come to write novels as Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights and Agnes Grey?

EDIT: (19 August)
The Scotsman publishes a brief review:
EDINBURGH'S Mercators are one of the capital's oldest am-dram societies, and the players themselves are also rather vintage – which is a bit of a hindrance when the subjects of their focus are the Brontës, none of whom reached the age of 40.
The Mercators don't really act; rather they perform rehearsed readings, and while some cast members are on more certain ground inhabiting the likes of Brontë publisher George Smith and William Thackeray, perhaps in playing the Brontë children the group could have sought some younger acting talent.
